Week 7

Why did I choose to work alone?  Well, the first week, I wasn't hear to the fact that I was down in Georgia because of a family emergency. The project was started when I was gone, and by the time I got back at the end of week one, all other six people were paired up, thus forcing me to work alone. It would have been easier than working alone. Assuming that I was hear, and we had to do this again, I would insist on having Heishmen as my partner, since he's a flash genious. I would get him to teach me how to do flash and work with him to make the project easier on me.  We would work together in every aspect of the project and I would know a lot more about flash than I do now. I would also have made some sort of awesome game with his help.

I would also have someone to help me on the final project.  Since Heishman's a flash genious, he would be able to make some pretty awesome examples of what the most awesome potentials of flash are.  They would be made even more the better because, since he knows a lot about flash, he could put in reference to our class.  Having someone who could share the workload with me would also make the final project easier, as I could focus on making the powerpoint nice, and  he could, since he's great at flash, focus on the lessons and examples.  It would be much easier coming up with 30 minutes of material with two people basically doing 15 minutes instead of one person doing 30 minutes.  Also, we would have the ability to colaberate on what to do, making it even that much more better, using each other's strenghts to cover for the weaknesses.

Week 6

Let's see, what will my final project look like.  The first part, which will discuss how I learned flash, will be powerpoint with some slides that discuss the site I went to, how I had to overcome the diffulculties of finding flash on my computer, seeming deleted, (but it really wasn't) and what I was doing most of the time.  Then I'll continue it with the problems I ran into, mainly not having the right flash that the tutorials were for and not getting the it to work correctly.  I'll then talk about that the only way to figure out what was wrong was to download the example that the tutorial had that works.

The next part will involve opening up some flash movies/things I created, and showing them, as part of the lessons. I'm thinking about doing another power point that has a lot of screenshots and some text that explains what to do.  Having lots of pictures would have helped me a great deal.  There were some pictures, but, not enough for my liking.  I most likly will include the working examples from the site, as well as ones (mainly actionscript) that I got to work for me as part of the examples of flash, perhaps referring to a good, school appropriate flash game as an example of 1337ness flash has to offer (but that I don't have).  I'll give credit to those who have already made tutorials (which is some of the stuff that'll go into the final project) and use their information to make a good tutorial(because any tutorial I could do without using someone elses as a base for information would suck hard).

Week 5

While working with java, so far, it seems that the easiest parts are the code. Simple code that you can copy and paste created by someone that knows exactly what to do helps.  So far, the tutorials that have been using code, which is on the actionscript side, have been like that, which is really just following the instructions, and coping the code into the correct location. I just have to simply type them in where it's required, in the correct level, and it works!  There are also just a few layers to work with that only have like, on thing in them.  The actionscript tutorials seem to also be written better.

The hard part seems to be the part where you have to create layers and put lots of different symbols in each layer so that it'll make the image shake or something.  The only way to fix that is to just download the example that the person who wrote the guide made and use that.  I don't think i'll be making and shimmering images or anything, or anything complex like that for my final project, so I just skipped over most of that, and I do want to add something uber like that, I'll just download the example that works and tweak it a little.

Doh!

I forgot to make a note of which version of flash I was using at school, and there's no way I can post a question in section dedicated to the version of flash I use without knowing what it is.  Looks like that'll have to wait for monday.

Week 4- Forums

I don't think that the forums will be that helpful, and, aside from the requirements for the assignment, I don't think that I will use them.  I have joined http://www.actionscripts.org/forums/index.php3 and http://www.kirupa.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=6, but need to activate them and I can't access my email from the school.  I suppose the positives of the forums are that you can get feedback from smart people who know what your problems are, but the negitive side is that they could be complete idiots and I can take screenshots, but can't really show them directly the problem.  I also have to wait until they log on, go to the forum, and post to my question, which could be a very long time between log-ins.  Hopefully after school today, I will remember to go home and activate my accounts, post a question, and complete the rest of this assignment.
